AES+F will present the single-channel version of Inverso Mundus (2015) as part of Sonica Glasgow 2026, Scotland’s leading biennial festival of audiovisual art and experimental music, produced by Cryptic. Sonica
The work will be shown at Pollok House, an eighteenth-century Palladian mansion set within Pollok Country Park. Closed since 2023 for major restoration, the historic house will temporarily reopen for Sonica as The Listening House — a festival within the festival, bringing audiovisual installations, performances and sonic experiments into its rooms and gardens. Inspired by the medieval carnival tradition of the “world turned upside down,” Inverso Mundus unfolds as a sequence of contemporary tableaux in which familiar social hierarchies are reversed: the poor give alms to the rich, police embrace protesters, children punish adults, and animals take revenge upon humans. Combining dark humour, visual splendour and an unsettling classical score, the work reflects on power, violence, desire and the instability of the social order.
Sonica Glasgow 2026 takes place across the city, presenting audiovisual art, experimental music, installations and performances by more than 170 artists from 21 countries.
