AES+F is pleased to participate in the 2025 contemporary art exhibition Code in Narratives (낯선 코드) at the Ulsan Art Museum, South Korea’s first future-oriented art institution dedicated to the convergence of contemporary art and cutting-edge technology.
The exhibition brings together major contemporary works from leading Korean and international artists to explore how visual art reflects and transforms the shifting conditions of society, identity, and technology in the 21st century.
Participating artists:
AES+F, BEYOND, Shezad Dawood, Media Art Group JANG, Do Ho Suh, Hito Steyerl, Kyungah Ham, Hayoun Kwon, Hyungkoo Lee, Suhkyung Lee, Yongbaek Lee, Nalini Malani, RoHwaJeong, Minjung Song, Universal Everything
AES+F is represented in the exhibition by two works:
– Allegoria Sacra (2011) – 3-channel video installation
– Allegoria Sacra, The Twins (2012) – pigment print on paper (courtesy of Jeonnam Museum of Art)
Curated around the themes of hybridity, extended reality, and philosophical reflection on the human condition, Code in Narratives traces five conceptual threads: “My Prism,” “Artistic Messages Facing Reality,” “Speculative Thinking in Art,” “Hybrid Forms across Boundaries,” and “Imaginary Storytelling.”
Through this lens, Allegoria Sacra is presented as a metaphorical purgatory—inhabited by timeless travelers, displaced souls, and mythical guardians—capturing a suspended state between cultures, geographies, and destinies.
