AES+F at FotoFest Biennial 2026 — 40th Anniversary
AES+F will participate in the FotoFest International Biennial 2026, presented in Houston, Texas, from March 7 through May 10, 2026. Marking its 40th anniversary, FotoFest dedicates this edition to revisiting pivotal exhibitions and artists who have shaped the institution’s international profile since its founding in 1986.
The anniversary exhibition revisits AES+F’s participation in the landmark 2006 presentation The Earth: Artists Responding to Violence. On view will be Action Half-Life, Episode 1, #13 (2003), from the larger Action Half-Life project (2003–2005). Developed prior to Last Riot, the series represents a foundational moment in AES+F’s practice: it was here that the collective fully articulated its method of digitally constructed photographic tableaux—staged, composite, and hyper-real—that would later expand into the large-scale video installations defining its subsequent work.
Curated by FotoFest co-founder and Artistic Director Wendy Watriss together with Annick Dekiouk, the exhibition recontextualizes historically significant works within the perspective of four decades of global image culture.
AES+F is honored to take part in this anniversary edition.
