Wit Works Woe (1988)

The project was created in 1988, first as a series of collages, then as a book, published 7 years later in 1995 by the Ilbi publishing house in Moscow.

A miniature book, 2 volumes –
The 1st volume with original text by Alexander Griboyedov (1795-1829, diplomat, writer, poet, composer) with illustrations by various artists of the mid-19th and early 20th centuries;
The 2nd volume (a notebook with a gold cover) is a conceptual author's commentary on the famous play by Alexander Griboedov (AES acted here as a conventional theater director) - 82 collages (book spreads), combining some ready-made elements with AES's own original drawings.
